Marking another milestone in employment generation, the 19th Rozgar Mela saw 223 young professionals receive government job offers in Kharagpur and Siliguri alone. While the national total touched 51,000 appointments spread over 47 venues, these two West Bengal locations stood out for their enthusiastic participation and swift completion of onboarding formalities. Central Minister Shantanu Thakur, who graced the Kharagpur event, highlighted how ministries such as Railways, Posts, and Finance had collaborated to expedite the recruitment cycle. He credited the Prime Minister’s vision for reducing procedural delays that once plagued public-sector hiring. West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh echoed these sentiments, noting that the drive had particularly benefited candidates from smaller towns who previously lacked access to centralized job notifications. In Siliguri, MP Jayant Kumar Roy and MLA Shikha Chatterjee congratulated the 81 successful applicants and urged them to serve with dedication. Many of the new recruits shared personal stories of years spent preparing for competitive exams, describing the moment of receiving their letters as life-changing. Observers believe the initiative not only addresses unemployment but also strengthens public trust in institutional recruitment mechanisms.
