Road Accident Near Chajjla Bridge Leaves Four Hurt, One Critical
A collision between a dump truck and an electric auto‑rickshaw near the Chajjla bridge in Punach district, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in four people being injured on a Sunday morning. The incident took place in the Mankot area of Mendar tehsil as the dump truck, driven by Mohammed Asif Bhat from Hanijpura, headed toward Saghar and collided with an e‑auto traveling from Mankot toward Mendar, piloted by Mohammed Mahroof.
The victims identified by the authorities are Mohammed Mahroof, Abdul Rahim, Shabeer Ahmed, and Irfan Ahmed, all locals of Narn Mankot. Villagers on the scene provided immediate assistance, moving the injured to the Sub‑District Hospital in Mendar for treatment. Because Abdul Rahim’s injuries were assessed as severe, he was later shifted to Rajouri Medical College for more comprehensive medical care.
Local police have recorded the accident and begun a probe to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crash. The tragedy underscores the challenges posed by the region’s rugged topography, where narrow, winding roads, steep slopes and deep roadside fissures make driving hazardous and accidents common.
