RJD seeks special observer and removal of bogus entries for Tirhut graduate election

Patna, September 9 – In a move to safeguard the upcoming graduate‑level election in Tirhut, the Rashtriya Janata Dal has submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission requesting several remedial actions. The party argues that the voter registration drive suffered from the inclusion of numerous fabricated names, compromising the legitimacy of the roll.

The RJD delegation, comprising national vice‑president Bhola Yadav and other senior members, highlighted procedural lapses: the commissioner’s absence on September 3‑4, the Janmashtami holiday on September 5, and the weekend on September 6 delayed submissions. An alleged disturbance on September 7, allegedly caused by a candidate backed by a specific party, forced the temporary halt of registration.

Key demands include a thorough audit of the voter list, deletion of fraudulent entries, an extension of the filing deadline, the opening of additional counters at the commissioner’s office, re‑activation of the election portal, and the appointment of a senior official as a special observer to monitor the entire process.
