Responsible Tourism and Tribal Heritage Center to Anchor Wayanad’s Rebranding Effort
At the heart of the “Brand Wayanad” strategy lies a focus on responsible tourism. The plan moves beyond showcasing scenic spots to offering immersive experiences that blend coffee estates, local cuisine, agricultural life, and tribal culture.
A flagship Tribal University and Heritage Knowledge Centre, funded with ₹50 crore, will preserve and promote the indigenous knowledge of Wayanad’s tribal communities. The initiative also aims to certify homestays, introduce farm‑to‑cup coffee models, and market the region’s unique honey, spices, and traditional rice varieties to global travelers.
By linking heritage with modern tourism standards, the government hopes to create a sustainable model that benefits both visitors and the district’s residents.
