Researchers unveil smart cotton gauze with chitosan coating

To overcome the limitations of ordinary cotton gauze, scientists combined a chitosan‑coated gauze with the curcumin‑laden nanofiber. The chitosan provides an extra antimicrobial shield, while the nanofiber ensures continuous drug delivery. Tests indicate the hybrid dressing adheres less to the wound, protecting newly formed tissue during removal and supporting cell proliferation and tissue regeneration.
