Gujarat’s law enforcement heroes are set to shine on Republic Day as 16 police personnel earn coveted President’s Medals for their remarkable service. The Union Home Ministry revealed the list on Sunday, ahead of the January 26 celebrations, spotlighting the grit and valor that define the state’s police force.
At the centerpiece of the honors are two IPS stalwarts from Gujarat: Nipun Thorawne, ADGP and Additional Chief Secretary in the Home Department, and SS Raghuvanshi, both awarded the elite President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Their leadership in transformative policing initiatives and administrative excellence has been pivotal.
Joining them are 14 others receiving the Meritorious Service Medal, hailing from varied units including intelligence, surveillance, prisons, transport, coastal security, and urban police in key cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, and Rajkot, plus the reserve force. From top brass to frontline constables, their stories embody tireless duty.
Key achievements include thwarting terror threats, masterful intelligence ops, curbing crime waves, handling disasters adeptly, reforming correctional systems, and ensuring societal stability. DGP Dr. KLN Rao hailed the feat as a testament to Gujarat Police’s unwavering professionalism.
This recognition, he added, will fuel further dedication among ranks statewide. The Home Department joined in the applause, affirming these officers as pillars of Gujarat’s security framework. As Republic Day approaches, these medals symbolize not just individual glory but collective resolve for a safer tomorrow.
