Repeated Criminal Faces New Charges Over August 5 Shooting in Jeewar

A career criminal with a history of arms‑related offences has been booked on fresh charges after a gunfire episode in Jeewar, Greater Noida, on August 5.

The suspect, known as Bhuri alias Nazar Mohammad, was apprehended on August 7 after police acted on intelligence pointing to his whereabouts near Thoura village. During the operation, investigators recovered a .315 bore illegal pistol, a live cartridge and a mis‑fired cartridge.

The shooting stemmed from a monetary disagreement filed by a local resident on August 5. The aggrieved party claimed that the accused opened fire with the illicit pistol, intending to kill him. The stray bullet struck a passer‑by, Umar, son of Asfaq, who was immediately hospitalized.

Court records indicate that the accused has been implicated in multiple cases since 2019, including breaches of the Arms Act, offences under the Excise Act and serious assault allegations. Separate filings in 2024, 2025 and 2026 highlight repeated violations of firearms regulations.

Law enforcement agencies have now added charges of unlawful discharge of a weapon, attempted murder and possession of prohibited arms to the suspect’s docket. The seized firearm and ammunition will be examined for ballistics matching the bullet recovered from the injured by‑stander.
