India’s Renewable Energy Zones in Andhra Pradesh Get Transmission Boost as Modi Lays Foundations
In Andhra Pradesh, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for the Kurnool‑4 Renewable Energy Zone (Phase‑1) transmission system, a project worth about ₹5,550 crore that will integrate 4.5 GW of renewable power into the national grid. Additional transmission schemes linking the Kurnool and Anantapur solar zones (2,500 MW and 1,000 MW respectively) and the Kurnool‑Wind Energy Zone will be inaugurated, with an estimated investment of ₹3,550 crore. These infrastructure works are expected to channel clean electricity from the state’s solar and wind parks to the broader Indian grid, reducing reliance on fossil‑fuel‑based generation and supporting the country’s energy transition and decarbonisation goals.
