Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta marked a historic moment for the Ladakh Buddha Vihar area in Civil Lines by inaugurating the foundation stone of a new footover bridge. Spanning from the vihar to the bustling Monastery Market, the structure fulfills a demand echoed by residents for over a decade amid hazardous traffic conditions.
‘Today’s event is joyous because we’re turning years of struggle into reality,’ declared Gupta. She criticized past governments for failing to act despite numerous petitions. Her administration, however, prioritized the project, securing permissions rapidly. The CM assured completion in approximately six months, promising smoother, safer crossings that will simplify everyday life.
Gupta portrayed Delhi as India’s vibrant mosaic, where Ladakhi families have integrated seamlessly. ‘They’ve embraced Delhi as their own, and we must reciprocate with essential amenities tailored to their needs,’ she noted. The bridge’s unique design draws inspiration from Ladakh’s rich traditions, fostering a sense of cultural continuity.
Ladakh BJP state president Tashi Gyaltsen expressed gratitude, calling it a game-changer for the community. ‘After years of advocacy, this bridge will enhance safety and connectivity,’ he said.
