Recovery Operations Launched After May 7 Assault on Khammong Border Hamlets

The Manipur government has launched a recovery programme following the May 7 assault on three Khammong villages that lie within a few metres of the Myanmar frontier. According to Home Minister Konthoujam Govind Das Singh, the police have completed an initial damage survey, recording more than ₹5 crore in property loss and one injured person.

Reconstruction of the razed homes is already underway, and additional police and paramilitary units have been posted to the remote border zone. While the insurgent group Kokang National Front (B‑Group) has been mentioned in connection with the attack, officials cautioned that the investigation is still ongoing and no definitive attribution has been made.
