Raut Labels Ayodhya Land Deal as ‘Ram Betrayal’, Urges Nationwide Action

On July 1 in Mumbai, Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha member from Shiv Sena (UBT), accused certain individuals of committing a massive "Ram betrayal" by allegedly diverting Ayodhya Ram Temple land to private hands. Raut said the law‑enforcement agencies have only nabbed low‑level participants, leaving senior offenders untouched.

He listed names such as Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, Gopal Rai, the sellers who transferred property to the temple trust and the mayor of Ayodhya, demanding their immediate arrest. "You have caught only the small fish," he reiterated, urging the government to act against the real culprits.

Describing the alleged misappropriation as the gravest act of treason against the nation, Raut warned that if any other political entity were implicated, it would face nationwide protests over threats to Hindutva.

The MP pressed for the SIT report to be released publicly, insisting that transparency would expose the truth. He also advocated for a cross‑party committee to examine the trust's finances, stating that the issue is a national concern, not a partisan one.

Raut capped his speech by announcing that his party would mobilise a movement to ensure a fair probe and strict punishment for those involved in what he termed the "Ram betrayal".
