In a measured order, the Delhi High Court permitted MP Rashid Engineer to join his father's 40th-day ritual by granting interim bail between June 25 and June 30. The decision follows an earlier two-month parole that ended on June 2. Advocate Hariharan explained the cultural importance of the ceremony and the logistical challenges of travel from jail. While NIA counsel argued against further concessions, the bench noted that the short extension would not disrupt proceedings. The court stressed that Rashid must report back to custody on June 2 before the new bail period begins. Existing bail conditions continue unchanged, and the MP is not required to furnish fresh bonds. This latest relief aligns with previous permissions given for parliamentary attendance and voting in the vice-presidential poll.
