Raoj Avenue Court Convicts MLA Raju Kumar Singh Under IPC and Arms Act

The high‑profile trial concerning the 2018 Harsh firing incident concluded with the Raoj Avenue Court finding Bihar BJP MLA Raju Kumar Singh guilty under Sections 304(2) of the IPC and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

The incident occurred on 31 December 2018 at a farm house in Vasanta Kunj, Delhi, where a licensed pistol was fired during New Year celebrations. A bullet hit Dr. Aradhna Gupta, who later succumbed to her injuries.

The court held that Singh possessed full knowledge of the danger posed by discharging a firearm in a crowded location. Consequently, a four‑year imprisonment term and a monetary award of INR 2.5 million to the victim's family were imposed.

Co‑accused Rana Rajesh Singh and Ramendra Singh were acquitted due to insufficient evidence, while Singh's wife, Renu Singh, also received the benefit of doubt.
