Ranchi Police Detain Two Technicians Over Confidential Exam Paper Breach

Ranchi, August 27 – Law enforcement officials in Ranchi detained two technicians accused of compromising the confidentiality of the JSSC CGL examination papers. The detained persons, identified as Somesh Prakash and Rahul, were employed by the organization that oversees the technical infrastructure of the exam.

Investigators recovered electronic evidence indicating that both technicians accessed secured question banks without authorization. Their roles gave them direct contact with sensitive documents, which prosecutors allege they misused to facilitate a leak.

The ongoing inquiry scrutinises the entire workflow of the exam – from the drafting of questions, encryption, storage, and transmission to test centres. Authorities are now probing how the stolen papers were handed over to candidates and whether any financial benefit was exchanged.

Interrogations focus on establishing the chronology of the leak, pinpointing co‑conspirators, and uncovering the communication channels used for distribution. Digital footprints such as phone records and device logs are being examined for links to other participants.

Officials warned that tampering with the examination system undermines meritocracy and will attract severe penalties.
