Ramapur Road Mishap: HRTC Bus Falls Off Road, Dozens Injured

A tragic road mishap unfolded on Friday morning when an HRTC bus en route to Rampur slipped off a curved section of the highway near Ray. The vehicle, carrying twenty passengers, careened off the paved surface and dropped onto a slope, causing injuries to a large number of commuters.

Emergency crews, guided by alerts from nearby villagers, arrived within minutes. The rescuers employed private vehicles to ferry the hurt to Khuneri Hospital, where seventeen are now under medical care. Two of the passengers have been classified as having life‑threatening head injuries, while the rest are listed with minor to moderate injuries.

Authorities have launched a formal inquiry to determine why the bus lost stability. Early statements indicate that the driver may have halted abruptly close to a livestock enclosure, a move that possibly led to the loss of traction. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about road safety on hilly terrain in Himachal Pradesh.
