Ramanuj Goswami Succumbs to Gunshot After Leaping From Police Vehicle

On September 14, Ramanuj Goswami, the man accused of murdering his wife in Guwahati, died after being shot by police officers. The incident unfolded as officers were transferring him to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for a routine medical check.

Goswami, who had surrendered at Haatigaon police station two days after his wife’s death, jumped from a moving police car near the Narkasur Hill area. In response, the police fired, striking him and causing his death on the spot.

His victim, identified as Riya Talukdar Goswami, had been found decapitated, with her head recovered from a refrigerator at their home. The couple had married roughly six months earlier and shared an apartment in Haatigaon.

Forensic investigators found a sharp weapon, multiple alcohol bottles, blood splatters, and disordered belongings inside the flat, confirming a violent homicide. Goswami, an Uber driver from Gaurepur, was the primary suspect in what has become a widely reported domestic crime case.
