Ram Temple Donation Scandal Triggers Fresh Criticism of BJP, RSS
Bengaluru, July 6 – The recent controversy surrounding missing donations at the Ram Temple has reignited accusations against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its ideological partner, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Congress minister Priyank Khadge said the incident exposes a long‑standing habit of using religious symbols for electoral advantage.
Khadge alleged that the parties are actively working to shield those who may have been involved in the alleged misappropriation of offerings. He remarked that the RSS’s call for calm was less about public safety and more about muting dissent.
“The RSS wants to stay invisible while its political muscle does the heavy lifting,” the minister said, adding that protecting alleged perpetrators not only reflects opportunistic politics but also disrespects the faith of millions of devotees. Khadge stressed that the Ram Temple has been reduced to a political asset rather than a place of worship.
Authorities continue to investigate the theft, and eight individuals linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust have already been arrested. Two senior trustees have stepped down following the allegations.
