Rakhi Ceremony in Gandhinagar Highlights Women’s Role in State Progress

Gandhinagar’s Lok Bhavan became a focal point for women’s empowerment on Thursday as they gathered to tie rakhi on Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The Raksha Bandhan event brought together participants from charitable foundations, disability advocacy groups, Brahmakumari volunteers and a host of community organisations.

Each participant placed a rakhi on the CM’s wrist, offering prayers for his health and longevity. In response, Patel welcomed the gathering, accepted the blessings, and reiterated his commitment to fostering holistic development and security for women throughout Gujarat.

The ceremony was attended by Education Minister Revaba Jadeja, Gandhinagar Mayor Meera Patel, and legislators Ritu Patel, Nimisha Suthar and Payal Kukarni. Prominent BJP leaders, including National Vice‑President Varsha Doshi and Mahila Morcha President Anju Vekaria, were also present, underscoring political backing for women‑centric initiatives.

Organisers highlighted the broad representation of women from different social strata, emphasizing that inclusive growth requires active participation from all sections of society. The traditional rakhi ritual served as a powerful metaphor for the protective bond the state seeks to establish with its female citizens.

Following the event, a formal statement confirmed that the Patel administration will continue to prioritize schemes aimed at education, health, skill development and safety, ensuring that women’s advancement remains central to Gujarat’s development roadmap.
