The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the appointment of IAS officer Rajiv Verma as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi. He will assume the role on October 1st, succeeding the current Chief Secretary, Dharmendra, who is set to retire on September 30th. The official notification confirmed the transfer of Rajiv Verma, a 1992-batch IAS officer from the AgMut cadre, from Chandigarh to the Delhi Government (GNCTD). He will officially take charge on October 1, 2025. Rajiv Verma’s background includes a degree in Computer Science from Roorkee University and an MTech from IIT. His career encompasses roles in various ministries, including defense, finance, urban development, health, and transport. He has held positions such as Deputy Commissioner of Delhi and has served as Additional Secretary in the Urban Development Department and Planning and Program Implementation Department. Furthermore, he served as Principal Secretary and Commissioner in Delhi, and held the position of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defense. Prior to his current appointment, he was an advisor to the Chandigarh Administrator and held additional responsibilities with the Chandigarh Housing Board.
