Jaipur’s assembly echoed with visions of progress as Diya Kumari, Rajasthan’s Deputy CM and Finance Minister, tabled the annual budget for 2026-27. Declaring it a blueprint for a ‘Developed Rajasthan’, this presentation is her third in office, building on prior fiscal strategies.
Central themes in the address included fortifying basics, advancing education and health sectors, upgrading infrastructure, creating jobs, enhancing agricultural incomes, promoting self-sufficiency, and bolstering economic resilience. Each sector saw targeted investments to ensure sustainable advancement.
In a post-presentation interview, Kumari reflected on their approach: ‘Good budgets have been our hallmark, zeroing in on essentials. A solid base is non-negotiable. Our declarations revolve around 10 development pillars, elaborated extensively, incorporating vital points and fresh announcements.’
Focusing on long-term prosperity, she noted, ‘Developing Rajasthan demands starting the foundation today. Neglecting quality education, health services, infrastructure, employment, farmers’ upliftment, and economic strength will hinder progress. Self-reliance and a powerful economy are our targets.’
Notably, infrastructure outlays exceeded last year’s, with generous provisions for green initiatives. Mirroring national priorities with their unique 10 pillars, the budget stands as a commitment to development. Kumari expressed regret over the Congress party’s failure to grasp its significance.
