Rajasthan Urban Body Polls: New Alliance Emerges Between Owaisi’s AIIM and Beniwal’s RLP

The political atmosphere in Rajasthan intensified after AIIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and RLP leader Hanuman Beniwal convened a joint public meeting in Jaipur’s Ward 146. Their combined appearance before a sizable audience signalled the emergence of a potential third front that could contest the urban local body elections scheduled for September 11.

Speaking to the crowd, Owaisi declared that the state’s electorate is ready for a change beyond the BJP-Congress duopoly. He called for support for the AIIM ticket while also urging voters to consider RLP candidates in contested wards. Central to his speech were concerns over school amenities, women’s security, and a plea to focus electoral discourse on tangible public issues rather than sectarian divides.

Beniwal complemented the message by drawing attention to farmer grievances, alleged document leaks, the Agnivir recruitment drive, and job scarcity for Rajasthan’s youth. He portrayed the joint rally as a catalyst for greater cooperation between Jat and Muslim voters, suggesting that this partnership could extend to the state assembly elections later this year.

Analysts note that the Owaisi‑Beniwal collaboration may lay the groundwork for a more structured alliance, potentially reshaping Rajasthan’s political equations after the municipal polls.
