Rajasthan OBC Commission Warns of Transfer Delays Impacting Survey Timeline
The OBC Commission of Rajasthan has issued a formal warning that the ongoing transfer of government employees could hinder the ongoing household survey and cause delays in the final report. In a correspondence to the chief secretary, the commission highlighted that while the state approved transfers up to Friday, several enumerators and support staff have already been reassigned to other duties.
The commission emphasized that removing field staff before the survey concludes on July 23 would undermine data collection efforts and postpone the submission of the reservation assessment to the state government.
The Supreme Court has mandated the commission to prepare recommendations on OBC quota allocation for Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections. The commission expects to present its findings by the second week of August. Only after receiving the report can the Election Commission finalize the election schedule, potentially announcing it by late August or early September.
The state high court had earlier directed the government to hold the local elections by July 31, a deadline that now appears difficult to meet without the commission's reservation report.
