Rajasthan Cops Launch Mega Vehicle Checks at 727 Points in Crime Crackdown

Rajasthan's law enforcement agencies rolled out a high-impact two-day blockade operation last week, setting up nakabandis at 727 spots to inspect thousands of vehicles and monitor potential threats. Under DGP Rajiv Kumar Sharma's oversight, the statewide effort spanned key police ranges, prioritizing public safety and regulatory compliance. Day one focused on Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Jaipur, while day two covered Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota. Officers scrutinized 35,471 vehicles in total—16,676 two-wheelers and 18,795 four-wheelers—issuing penalties for a range of infractions. Key violations included 262 drunk driving FIRs, 1,173 helmetless riders fined, 1,213 seatbelt offenders penalized, and 75 drivers caught on mobiles. Crackdowns extended to 857 improper number plates and 739 tinted window cases, culminating in 7,185 Motor Vehicle Act violations. Jodhpur topped the charts with 1,633 cases, trailed by Udaipur's 1,583. The operation went further, tackling illegal weapons, drugs, liquor, and mining rackets. Fifty-three excise FIRs, ten arms-related, and ten NDPS cases were registered. Eight vehicles were impounded under security codes, 89 suspects arrested, and 161 held under preventive sections. Kota police seized 200 liters of illicit liquor and sharp weapons in six incidents, while mining raids netted 75 tons of banned gravel with heavy machinery confiscated. DGP Sharma emphasized ongoing vigilance, promising sustained campaigns to deter crime, enforce rules, and protect citizens across Rajasthan's vast landscape.
