A senior CPI(ML) lawmaker from Bihar has blown the whistle on what he calls a sinister plot by the BJP to disqualify Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha. Rajaram Singh, speaking in Patna on Monday, predicted massive public backlash if the Leader of Opposition is targeted.
Gandhi’s recent parliamentary speech, described by Singh as ‘exceptional and fact-packed,’ has evidently rattled the government. ‘They’re dodging the truth and aiming to dismantle democracy,’ Singh said. ‘Rahul is fighting to protect it, making him a prime target.’
The MP invoked India’s independence struggle and Ambedkar’s Constitution as sacred legacies. ‘We fought the British for this democracy—no one can erode it without facing nationwide fury,’ he declared.
Addressing Muslim groups’ criticism of ‘Vande Mataram,’ Singh distinguished between the song’s historic role in anti-colonial marches and recent additions seen as divisive. ‘The original anthem united people; objections stem from communal tweaks.’
In Bihar, Singh slammed the Nitish Kumar government for failing women amid rising crimes. Aligning with Rabri Devi’s resignation demand, he said, ‘Like in BJP states, Bihar’s girls are unsafe. This leadership has lost all legitimacy.’
Singh’s bold claims highlight escalating confrontations between the opposition and the ruling coalition, as debates over free speech, patriotism, and governance intensify across the nation.
