Rainfall in Western Ghats Pushes Ujjani Dam Near Critical Levels

Monsoon showers across the western ghats have driven the Ujjani Dam’s level above its dead storage line for the first time this year. The rise comes after a night of intense rain that also forced the Khadakvasla Dam to increase its outflow, releasing 27,303 cusecs into the Mutha River and prompting high‑alert warnings for riverside villages. Nearby reservoirs such as Dhami and Kavadas are also seeing elevated storage, with Kavadas currently overtopping and discharging about 50,000 cusecs into the Sun River.
