Rainfall Expected to Refill Reservoirs, Mitigate Water Shortage
Meteorological departments reported scattered showers across the Malnad region on Sunday, triggering the first inflow into the KRS (Krishna River) system after weeks of dry spell. Officials indicated that if the precipitation pattern holds, reservoir levels could rise to a point where drinking‑water scarcity will be alleviated.
The deputy chief minister highlighted that the recent rain has already begun to replenish several key tanks, and urged residents to continue conserving water. He warned that despite the hopeful signs, the government will keep a tight watch on consumption, ensuring that the limited water supply is reserved strictly for human and animal use.
The administration also announced that additional fodder kits will be dispatched to vulnerable villages once the water levels stabilize, aiming to prevent any secondary crises stemming from feed shortages.
