Railway’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign features Amit Shah and disabled students planting 76 saplings

The Indian Railways’ Western Zone has incorporated a clean‑environment agenda into its schedule for the upcoming “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” drive. As a highlight, Home Minister Amit Shah visited Vadnagar station on September 17, where he joined 76 disabled students in planting a tree for each year of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life. The participants also took part in a station‑wide sweeping activity, reinforcing a message of hygiene for passengers and staff. Railway officials, including the divisional manager and senior engineers, explained that special cleaning operations will be carried out on September 19‑20 at identified waste‑prone locations, after which those zones will be turned into “clean‑selfie points”. Educational modules on solid waste segregation and a pledge ceremony were also organised for commuters.
