Railway Jobs for Athletes: 57 Vacancies, Applications from Oct 31
For sportspersons looking for stable government employment, South Eastern Railway has announced 57 vacancies under its Sports Quota for 2026-27. Applications will be accepted online from October 31 to November 30.
The vacancies are divided into three groups. Group 'C' Level-4/Level-5 has 5 posts, Group 'C' Level-2/Level-3 has 16 posts, and Group 'D' Level-1 has 33 posts. The notification lists the sports and positions for each group in detail.
Group 'C' Level-4/Level-5 posts are available in Athletics (Men) 200 metres, Athletics (Men) High Jump, Chess (Men) Individual, Hockey (Women) Forward and Table Tennis (Women) Individual.
Group 'C' Level-2/Level-3 posts include Athletics (Men) in 200 metres, High Jump, 20 km Race Walking and Cross Country, Archery (Men) Compound (two posts), Archery (Women) Compound, Body Building (Men) 65 kg, Bridge (Men) Individual, Cycling (Men) in Individual Road Race, Individual Pursuit and Points Race (Track), Gymnastics (Women) Artistic (WAG), Hockey (Women) Forward, Hockey (Men) Defender, and Rifle Shooting (Women) 3 Position.
Group 'D' Level-1 posts cover Ball Badminton (Men) Back and Front, Cricket (Men) Middle Order Batsman and Fast Bowler, Football (Men) Side Back and Stopper, Golf (Men) Individual, Kabaddi (Men and Women) in multiple positions, Kho-Kho (Men) Allrounder and Defender, Volleyball (Men and Women) in several roles, Water Polo (Men) Winger and Centre Forward, and Weightlifting (Men) 65 kg and 71 kg.
Online registration opens on October 31 and closes on November 30. Candidates should complete their registration on the official website of the Railway Recruitment Cell, South Eastern Railway (RRCSER), on or before the deadline.
To be eligible, Group 'C' applicants need a degree or equivalent, or 12th pass or equivalent, from a recognised board, institution or university. Group 'D' applicants need a 10th pass, ITI or equivalent, and a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT.
Applicants must also have represented India at the senior-category Olympic Games, or finished at least third in specified events such as World Cups, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, Davis Cup, Champions Trophy, or Thomas/Uber Cup.
The age limit is a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 25 years, calculated as on January 1, 2027.
Candidates will be selected through sports trials and verification of sports and educational certificates by a duly constituted recruitment committee of South Eastern Railway.
Selected candidates will receive a pay scale of Rs 5,200 to Rs 20,200. Grade pay is Rs 2,400 or Rs 2,800 for Group 'C' Level-4/Level-5, Rs 1,900 or Rs 2,000 for Group 'C' Level-2/Level-3, and Rs 1,800 for Group 'D' Level-1.
The application fee is Rs 500 for General and OBC candidates and Rs 250 for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, women, minorities and economically weaker sections, payable online. General and OBC candidates who appear in the trials will be refunded Rs 400, while SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwD, women, minority and EWS candidates who appear in the trials will be refunded Rs 250.
