Rahul Gandhi Faces BJP Attack Over Foreign Protest Links
New Delhi, October 22: The BJP has launched a fresh attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, with party spokesperson Tuhin A. Sinha alleging that foreign organisations are projecting the Congress leader as a victim and questioning his ties with groups abroad.
Sinha said there have been persistent questions about Rahul Gandhi's foreign destinations. He singled out the 'Progressive Alliance', which he described as a grouping of 101 suspicious organisations. He claimed these organisations are being connected with protests and alleged disturbances in several countries.
Sinha pointed to an April 2025 image shared on Congress's official X handle that showed a meeting between Sonia Gandhi and Progressive Alliance representatives. He questioned what the Gandhi family has to do with the organisation.
He further named 'Indian Alliance Paris', saying it had circulated videos of Rahul Gandhi's detention from last week across the globe and tried to show him as a victim. Despite violating rules and laws, Sinha said, Rahul Gandhi had become a hero for such groups.
The BJP leader asked whether Rahul Gandhi doubts his ability to win elections on his own. If not, he asked, why would he need support from alleged dubious foreign outfits? Sinha argued that Congress is failing to build an effective alliance within India yet is attempting to create one on a global scale.
Sinha reminded the public of Congress's earlier nonviolent political tradition and accused the party of now fuelling violence. He urged the party's leadership to undertake an honest review of its direction.
Sinha also offered birthday wishes to Amit Shah and praised his record of meeting major targets within set timeframes. He cited the abrogation of Article 370, action against Naxalism, and the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act. He expressed hope that drug trafficking could be ended and India made drug-free within the next three years.
He emphasised that youth who consume drugs are victims, while drug traffickers are the main guilty parties. Strong action against these traffickers, he said, would help rescue young people trapped in addiction.
On Congress's electoral prospects, Sinha pointed to the party's long absence from power in Gujarat. He said several states have an entire generation that has never seen a Congress government.
He also cited Rahul Gandhi's protests and his meeting with President Droupadi Murmu. Sinha alleged that instead of gathering evidence for his vote theft allegations, Rahul Gandhi moves quickly on. Such a working style and alleged carelessness, he concluded, make it hard for Congress to return to power.
