Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of Modi’s international stance provokes party backlash

In a recent parliamentary session, Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach to foreign relations, suggesting that India’s global reputation was suffering. The comments ignited an immediate backlash from BJP officials.

Vijay Kumar Bansal described the remarks as “degrading” to India’s cultural heritage and warned that such language could alienate key allies. He demanded a public apology from Gandhi, calling the criticism “below the dignity of a parliamentarian.”

Shri Shrikant Bharatiya, a BJP MLA from Maharashtra, highlighted the economic achievements achieved under Modi’s leadership, noting increased exports and stronger ties with major economies. He argued that Gandhi’s statements ignored these successes and portrayed the government in a negative light.

Ram Kadam, a veteran BJP legislator, dismissed Gandhi’s stance as “political theatre,” stating that the opposition is trying to create a narrative that paints India as a global pariah. He urged the opposition to focus on constructive engagement rather than “mocking” diplomatic initiatives.
