Radhakrishnan Urges Company Secretaries to Uphold Transparency in Digital Era

New Delhi, 4 October – Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the Institute of Company Secretaries of India on its 58th founding day, commending the institute’s long‑standing contribution to transparent and inclusive corporate governance.

He observed that the profession’s evolution now plays a decisive role in reinforcing corporate clarity, building investor confidence and bolstering India’s position in the world economy.

Amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence, big data and emerging business models, the Vice President appealed to company secretaries to act as the “protectors of governance”. He reminded the audience that technology can alter how information is generated, but the virtues of truthfulness, accountability and responsibility belong to people.

Describing trust and transparency as the invisible framework of a modern economy, he placed company secretaries at its core, enabling everything from family businesses to listed corporations to develop responsibly.

He warned that developing strong institutions and good governance is as vital as building physical and digital infrastructure for achieving a developed India by 2047. The complementary contribution of ICSI, ICAI and ICMAI to a resilient corporate ecosystem was underlined.

The Vice President praised ICSI’s fee‑waiver programmes aimed at expanding youth participation, urged sustained outreach to academic circles, and launched the MSME Compliance Calendar 2027, applauding ICSI’s work for MSMEs and startups.

He also acknowledged ICSI’s role in the “Shahid Ki Beti” initiative and the National Defence Fund, concluding with a call to preserve the profession’s trust and help forge a self‑reliant, prosperous India.
