How quantum key sharing safeguards artillery and armored vehicle trials
Artillery and armoured vehicle trials produce a wealth of classified information – from projectile trajectories to armor stress measurements. Any leak could compromise national security and provide adversaries with valuable insight.
DRDO's newly installed quantum key distribution platform addresses this risk by generating truly random cryptographic keys that are shared instantly via quantum particles. Unlike conventional encryption, the keys cannot be copied without altering the quantum state, which triggers an immediate alert.
During the recent live‑fire drill at the PXE range, the QKD system encrypted all data streams in real time. Analysts observed that the system maintained throughput while preserving the confidentiality of the data, even when the network experienced heavy traffic.
The experiment demonstrates that quantum encryption can become a standard safeguard for all high‑sensitivity defence testing activities.
