Punjab’s OFTEC Leads Successful Return of Bambiha Gang Fugitives from Malaysia

In a coordinated operation spearheaded by Punjab’s Foreign Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC), three wanted men from the Dawinder Bambiha syndicate were extradited from Malaysia and taken into custody.

The men – Jaspreet Singh, also called Bahbal, a resident of Faridkot, along with Ajay Singh and Pawan Deep Singh from Gangannagar, Rajasthan – were seized at Delhi’s international airport and escorted to Punjab for questioning.

Investigators allege that the trio participated in a spectrum of violent crimes, including contract killings, extortion, the procurement of explosive substances and the planning of a hand‑grenade blast in Ludhiana. Their network is believed to have received logistical support from Pakistan’s ISI.

DGP Gaurav Yadav used his social‑media platform to confirm the breakthrough, crediting the Counter‑Intelligence Wing and central agencies for facilitating the extradition. Additional DGP (Intelligence Protection) Amit Prasad described the arrests as the culmination of relentless intelligence surveillance over recent months.

According to OFTEC chief Ashish Choudhary, Jaspreet Singh arrived in Malaysia in 2019, linked up with an existing outlaw, and quickly rose to a leadership position within the gang. He was earlier connected to a 2025 murder investigation concerning the driver of Yadavinder Singh and Jeevanjot Singh Chahal.

Ajay Singh and Pawan Deep Singh were identified as key planners of the 2025 Ludhiana grenade attack. Their apprehension yielded a Chinese‑manufactured hand grenade. The operation underscores the Punjab government’s mandate, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to fast‑track the repatriation of fugitives and ensure they face stringent legal repercussions.
