Punjab is striking back hard against the drug menace. Under CM Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, the ‘Yudh Nashhe Virudh’ initiative has delivered impressive results, with over 50,238 traffickers apprehended since early March 2025.
A major boost came with the launch of Jalandhar Range’s ultra-modern ANTF headquarters by DGP Gaurav Yadav. This 9,000 sq ft facility, constructed for 1.60 crores, is designed to supercharge anti-drug operations. It features specialized workspaces for officers and staff, a research library, and a sophisticated meeting hall.
‘This center is armed with the latest tech to hunt big fish in the drug trade and crush cross-border syndicates,’ stated DGP Yadav. Highlights include forensic tools for mobiles and computers, AI-driven data analysis, encryption-breaking software, surveillance systems, and trackers for crypto transactions linked to drugs.
Integration with PAIS 2.0 adds voice recognition from a massive 70,000+ criminal database, enhancing intelligence gathering.
In numbers: 35,133 cases filed, massive hauls of 2,229 kg heroin, 667 kg opium, 28 tonnes poppy husk, plus charas, ganja, ICE, cocaine, millions of pills, and 16.68 crore in cash.
DGP Yadav called it a pivotal victory but stressed the battle continues. Public cooperation is key—report via Safe Punjab chatbot 97791-00200 confidentially.
Notable attendees included top ANTF brass and local police leaders, signaling unified resolve.
