Punjab’s surge in shootings and gang activity prompts BJP call for decisive action

Chandigarh – On Friday, Kull Singh Dhillon, the state president of the BJP in Punjab, issued a stark warning about the rapid escalation of crime across the state. He noted that incidents such as gun battles, murders during daylight hours, thefts and coordinated color‑coded assaults are surfacing almost every day. Dhillon claimed that the audacity of gangsters has reached a point where the fear of legal consequences has vanished. He pointed out that the absence of any crime‑free day is now the norm, creating an atmosphere of dread that hampers daily life for citizens, traders and businesspeople alike. The rising insecurity, according to Dhillon, is also a major deterrent to investment and is damaging Punjab’s economic prospects. Referring to a recent shooting outside the home of former Akal Takht Jathedar Raghuvir Singh, he challenged the state government’s capacity to safeguard even well‑known religious personalities, let alone the common man. Dhillon accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party of focusing on political celebrations in Delhi while neglecting internal security, and urged a strict, decisive law‑enforcement strategy that he believes only a BJP administration can enforce.
