Punjab Party Marks ‘Bandi Chhod’ Day with Diya for Drug‑Fatalities

CHANDIGARH, November 8 — The BJP’s Punjab chapter commemorated the twin festivals of Diwali and Bandi Chhod Day by lighting a series of diyas at its state office. The flames were dedicated to the memory of youths who have succumbed to drug addiction.

State president Keval Singh Dhillon participated in the ritual, emphasizing that each lamp stands as a reminder of families whose lives have been eclipsed by the scourge of narcotics. He called on community leaders and law‑enforcement agencies to intensify efforts against the drug trade.

Linking the event to Bandi Chhod Day—a historic celebration of the release of 52 imprisoned rulers by Guru Har Gobind—the party portrayed the day’s spirit of liberation as a call to free Punjab from drug‑induced bondage.

The BJP reiterated its promise to walk alongside grieving families, notably mothers and sisters who have lost sons and brothers. It pledged continued advocacy for treatment centers, awareness campaigns, and strict legal action until the state is completely free of drug abuse.

The ceremony ended with wishes of a joyous Diwali and Bandi Chhod Day, accompanied by prayers for renewed hope, prosperity and safety in every Punjabi household.
