Punjab Officials Trained on EVM-VVPAT First Level Checks

Chandigarh, October 27: A high-level team from the Election Commission of India, comprising senior Deputy Election Commissioners and Directors General, reviewed poll preparations in Punjab on Tuesday. The team met the state's Chief Electoral Officer, the state police nodal officer and representatives of various central and state enforcement agencies to examine arrangements for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The day also featured a workshop on First Level Checking (FLC), which was completed successfully. The programme aimed to prepare officers and employees for the technical and administrative procedures involved in examining EVMs and VVPAT units.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed participants that FLC will be carried out in every district beginning November 12. The process will adhere to ECI guidelines and be executed with complete openness.

To make certain the set procedures are observed, the concerned District Election Officers will oversee the entire exercise on a daily basis.

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) experts conducted practical demonstrations and training sessions so that participants could fully comprehend the technical side of FLC.

The workshop included an evaluation process and a special session dedicated to answering questions and resolving concerns.

District Election Officers, Additional District Election Officers, FLC nodal officers, master trainers, BEL experts and other officials linked to the process attended the workshop.

During the entire FLC exercise, strict adherence to the prescribed protocol and maintenance of the highest standards of transparency, accuracy and caution were stressed.

Following the workshop, a review meeting with enforcement agencies assessed preparations and inter-agency coordination for the elections. The objective is to secure full participation from all enforcement agencies so the election can be conducted in a smooth, fair and transparent manner.
