Punjab Law and Order Slammed by BJP's Tarun Chugh

Amritsar, October 28: BJP MP Tarun Chugh on Wednesday raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in Punjab, saying the state was sitting on the edge of a volcano. He accused the Bhagwant Mann government of complete failure and said the administration appeared indifferent to the crisis.

Speaking to reporters in Amritsar, Chugh said that the state's law and order machinery had broken down. He alleged that extortionists were opening fire openly and that a so-called goon tax was being collected from people. He said Punjab's citizens were living in fear and anxiety.

Chugh added that the government did not seem to care about the situation and had not made it a priority. He claimed that while residents were struggling, Bhagwant Mann was preparing to leave for a foreign vacation.

The BJP MP said murders were taking place across the state and that grenade attacks had been carried out on police stations. He argued that these incidents showed the government had failed to bring the situation under control.

In the same press interaction, Chugh also turned his attention to the recent Multi-Level Council, or MLC, elections held across several states. He said Congress had failed to win any of the 28 seats contested through ballot paper voting. He claimed that the results reflected public anger toward the party and its leader Rahul Gandhi.

Chugh said that voters had responded to what he described as conspiracies and false narratives by delivering a strong message through their votes. He concluded that the people of the country were watching every move and would continue to respond through the ballot box.
