Punjab DGP Announces Ongoing Probe After Major Haul of Heroin, Opium and .30‑Bore Gun

The Director General of Police of Punjab issued a statement on X, confirming that the investigation into the three drug‑arms networks is far from over.

While eight suspects have been booked and the cache of 9.549 kilograms of heroin, 5.459 kilograms of opium and an illegal .30‑bore pistol has been secured, authorities are now combing through financial records, call logs and additional leads to expose every participant in the syndicate.

Police have filed separate FIRs at Amritsar Cantonment, A‑Division and Cherat police stations, emphasizing that each jurisdiction will contribute to the larger case file. The DGP reiterated the department's commitment to curbing cross‑border smuggling and dismantling organised criminal structures.

Collaboration with the Border Security Force and intelligence agencies continues, with several drone‑linked trafficking cases already uncovered in recent months.
