Punjab Crackdown Nets AK‑47 and Grenades, Driver Nabbed

In a parallel operation in Punjab, rural police in Amritsar arrested 28‑year‑old Navjot Singh, a truck driver from Cheema, Tarn Taran district. A search of his motorcycle uncovered an AK‑47 assault rifle, a magazine, nine cartridges and two live hand grenades. The seizure was part of a larger effort to dismantle an illegal weapons and explosives network that authorities suspect is linked to overseas traffickers. DGP Gaurav Yadav and IG Gurpreet Singh Bulla confirmed that intelligence inputs guided the raid, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to trace the full extent of the smuggling ring.
