Chief Minister Orders Accelerated Anti‑Drug Campaign
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann chaired a top‑level review meeting and directed the state to intensify its “War Against Drugs” initiative. He instructed all departments, including the police, to coordinate closely and ensure the crackdown on narcotics and organized crime. The DGP, Gaurav Yadav, affirmed that the police will enforce the mandate with zero tolerance toward gangsters and drug traffickers. Recent appointments have solidified leadership; Yadav, a 57‑year‑old IPS officer, was officially confirmed as the regular DGP after serving as acting chief. The panel that recommended his posting also included senior officers Sharad Satya Chauhan and Harpreet Singh Sidhu. The government expects the combined effort of police, administration and citizens to eradicate drug networks and restore lasting peace in Punjab.
