Punjab BJP’s Drug‑Free Tour Demands Police Coordination

In a bid to intensify the fight against narcotics, the Punjab branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party scheduled four "Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra" events spanning September 18‑30. The party aims to rally public support and pressure the state government to eradicate drug use.

State president Keval Singh Dhillon, accompanied by senior party officials, met the Director General of Police to present a memorandum that calls for comprehensive security measures and smooth traffic flow for the entire journey. The delegation highlighted the participation of high‑ranking BJP leaders, central ministers, and a large contingent of volunteers and citizens, making stringent safety protocols indispensable.

The yatra’s route will commence in Sujanpur (Pathankot), proceed to Fatehgarh Sahib, then to Fazilka and Talwandi Sabo before culminating in Jalandhar on September 30. The opening ceremony on September 18 will feature national president Nitin Nirav, while Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, MP Arjun Ram Meghwal, Delhi’s Chief Minister Richa Gupta, and other senior figures are slated to join at various stages.

Dhillon appealed for a proactive police response to prevent any anti‑social elements from disrupting the campaign, and urged district police to implement traffic management plans ahead of time. He reiterated that the "Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra" is a social movement designed to safeguard the state’s youth and families, confronting a drug problem that has escalated into organized crime, gang culture and forced extortion.
