Pune Metro Line-3: Full Route Details, Timings and Station Plan
Pune is preparing to welcome one of its most important transport projects. Metro Line-3, which links Maan-Hinjewadi with Shivajinagar, will open for passengers on November 4, after a virtual inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 3.
Here is a detailed look at what commuters can expect.
What is changing
The elevated line stretches 23.203 km and carries the names Punery Metro and Pink Line. It runs from Maan through Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. The total project cost is estimated at Rs 8,313 crore. It is the first metro project in India to be built under the public-private partnership model, according to officials.
Initial station network
Of the 23 stations, 17 will open first. These are Maan, Maan-MIDC Circle Phase-2, Maan Bus Depot, Hinjewadi Phase-2 Circles 1 and 2, Padmabhushan Chowk, Shivchhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Hinjewadi Phase-1, Wakad Chowk, Shri Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Mitcon, RK Laxman Museum, Aundh, Sakalnagar, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Krishi Mahavidyalaya and District and Sessions Court.
The balance six stations will be completed gradually. Two are expected by the end of November 2026, and four by January 2027.
Access arrangements
Seven stations will open with one staircase only. The other 10 will have both staircases in operation.
Operating hours
Service begins at 6 AM on November 4. The last train from Maan to District Court is scheduled at 10:30 PM and the last from District Court to Maan at 11:40 PM. Trains will run every six minutes during peak periods and every 12 minutes at other times.
Train and comfort features
The line will use air-conditioned Alstom trains. Each coach offers facilities for charging mobile phones and laptops.
Connections and last-mile access
District Court station will connect with Mahametro Line-1 and Line-2, and a joint ticketing app has been created for both systems. Plans include buses, autos, Ola and Uber cabs and e-bikes near stations, separate pick-up and drop-off zones, parking for two- and four-wheelers, and dedicated cycle tracks, footpaths and pedestrian crossings.
Sustainability and workforce
The project has 7.60 MW of solar capacity installed across stations and car depots, meeting about 30 percent of its power needs. Officials claim the use of special materials will prevent about 28,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and save 2,000 tonnes of steel and 60 crore litres of water. For trees affected by construction, 5,500 new trees have been planted and 750 have been transplanted. Nearly 100 women will serve as train pilots, and around 50 percent of station staff, including station controllers, ticket staff and attendants, will be women.
Safety clearance
PMRDA officials said the RDSO has completed inspection of the full line and final safety approval has been granted. A total of 350 personnel from the Maharashtra State Security Corporation will be deployed for station security.
