Pune Authorities to Restore Power, Water and Health Services on War Footing
The monsoon surge has strained Pune's basic utilities, prompting Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar to order a war‑footing restoration of electricity, drinking water, health facilities and telecom networks.
All relevant departments were instructed to work round the clock, treating the restoration as a priority operation. The district collector must forward a detailed progress report to the state every two hours, ensuring that any bottlenecks are addressed promptly.
Special attention was given to the large number of pilgrims traveling on the Wari route, especially elderly women and children. Police were asked to manage traffic around IT parks and industrial clusters to avoid gridlocks during the emergency.
Pawar also warned citizens to stay away from riverbanks and reservoirs, and to heed official guidance instead of rumors. The coordinated effort aims to safeguard lives while minimizing disruption caused by the heavy rain.
