Public Barred from President’s House as Guard Ceremony Postponed

Authorities in New Delhi have announced that civilians will not be permitted inside the President’s House grounds on Saturday, August 22. The usual Change of Guard ceremony is being put on hold because security forces are conducting a rehearsal for the arrival of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Tariq Rahman.

The routine ceremony, which normally runs for half an hour every Saturday, includes the handover of duty between the outgoing and incoming guard units, a salute exchange, and a concluding horse‑ridden display by the President’s Bodyguard, ending with the national anthem. The event has been re‑organized to take place at a more viewer‑friendly spot within the palace complex.
