Suspected psychotic man slashes villagers with axe in West Bengal

Police in Birbhum district disclosed that a resident of Kabilaspur, known locally as Kanai Konai, displayed sudden psychotic behavior on Monday, attacking passers‑by with a bamboo stick and a heavy axe. The attack escalated when he struck a traveler crossing the village, delivering a devastating axe strike that proved fatal. Ten other villagers, ranging from children to senior citizens, were injured and are currently under medical observation at Suri District Hospital. After evading capture by heading into a Jharkhand forest, the suspect was located and taken into custody late on Tuesday, officials said.
