Protest Plans Disrupted as Grandmother Passes Away
Abhijit Dipke’s scheduled protest at Jantar Mantar was abruptly complicated by a family tragedy. The CJP leader was on his way to the capital when Delhi police seized him at the airport. Shortly thereafter, officials informed him that his grandmother, who lived in a village in the Santuk Pimpiri block of Hingoli, had passed away after a prolonged illness.
The police have now given Dipke a choice: stay behind bars to continue the anti‑resignation rally, or be released to join his family for the last rites. His parents, currently staying in Sambhaji Nagar, have already travelled to Hingoli after the news broke. Earlier attempts by some activists to break free from custody and damage a bus were thwarted, resulting in their re‑arrest.
