Production Manager Booked After Late-Night Shoot Breach in Mumbai

Authorities in Mumbai have taken action against a film-production executive for allegedly flouting the time restrictions placed on a nighttime shoot at a municipal school in Grant Road. The complaint was lodged by an on-duty constable who noticed that shooting at the BMC compound on Gilder Tank Lane continued past the 11:30 p.m. deadline and remained active until 11:55 p.m. on May 24. Following verification, a case under Section 223 of the new penal code was filed against Wahid Abdul Kader Sheikh, 33, who serves as manager for Panorama Studios International Limited. Police visited the location, issued a formal notice, and subsequently released the manager after recording his statement. Senior officers said the production company had received explicit clearance for a limited window only, and any extension requires fresh approval from civic and police authorities. The episode underscores the city’s increasingly stringent oversight of film shoots in sensitive zones such as schools and hospitals, where noise and lighting can affect surrounding neighborhoods. Officials warned that repeat offenders could face stricter penalties, including cancellation of future permissions.
