Prime Minister’s Sports Drive Brings Rural Athletes to International Spotlight

New Delhi, August 10 – The Prime Minister’s recent audience with Indian Commonwealth Games medalists has been hailed by the Bharatiya Janata Party as a milestone for grassroots sport development. Leaders across the party praised Modi’s "Play India" and "Fit India" campaigns for uncovering talent that was previously concealed in village fields.

MP Praveen Patel explained that the prime minister’s message – that active participation in sports nurtures both the individual and the nation – is resonating with youth across the country. He commended the athletes for their gold, silver and bronze achievements, which have elevated India’s reputation on the world stage.

Rajasthan’s Rajendra Rathod observed that a sizable proportion of the Commonwealth contingent, close to 70 percent, hails from rural areas. He credited Modi’s policies for providing the platform that allowed these athletes to transition from local playgrounds to international arenas. Rathod further suggested that the prime minister’s leadership style motivates athletes to set their sights on the upcoming Asian Games and the Olympic Games.

Shyam Rajak, national secretary of the Delhi Youth Union, highlighted a surge in confidence among athletes, attributing it to the prime minister’s supportive approach. Party spokesperson Guru Prakash reiterated that the sustained push for sport and fitness is fueling a new wave of enthusiasm, enabling Indian sportspeople to perform strongly across global competitions.
