Prime Minister Shares Sanskrit Shloka on Guru Purnima, Emphasizes Moral Guidance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a Sanskrit verse on X on July 29 to commemorate Guru Purnima. The shloka, “Prerakah sookshakshcaiva vaachako darshakas tathaa…,” was accompanied by a Hindi interpretation outlining the sixfold role of a guru in inspiring, directing, teaching, and nurturing self‑realisation.
In his accompanying comment, Modi wished every citizen a happy Guru Purnima and called on people to draw strength from the guru’s ideals. He reminded followers that a teacher’s influence extends beyond academic instruction to shaping character and ethical outlook.
The message follows a series of cultural posts made by the Prime Minister over the past few days. On Tuesday, a subhasit on ecological preservation was shared, along with a verse linking nature’s cycles to human welfare. The previous day featured a short Sanskrit couplet praising moral uprightness as the basis of respect and leadership.
These updates illustrate the government’s intent to promote traditional wisdom, environmental consciousness, and personal integrity through digital outreach.
